Category: Events

Science in the Palace is a project that aims to popularise research conducted at the University of Warsaw and foster dialogue between science and society.

The exhibitions are held at the Kazimierzowski Palace – the historical seat of the University – and highlight the research achievements of its faculties, institutes, and centres. Each exhibition is developed in close collaboration with scholars from the respective unit, combining academic accuracy with an engaging and accessible form of science communication.

The project promotes interdisciplinarity by showing how different fields of knowledge address today’s social, environmental, and technological challenges. Accessibility is also a key element of the initiative – all content is written in plain language and translated into Polish Sign Language.

Each exhibition consists of around 20 thematic panels, complemented by illustrations, photographs, infographics, and artefacts displayed in glass cases. The design incorporates physical interactive elements (such as movable flaps, inserts, and stickers) that invite visitors to actively explore the content.

Science in the Palace is not only a presentation of research results but also an effective tool for science communication within the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme (IDUB). The presence of these exhibitions on the IDUB website, together with photographic and textual documentation, enables the creation of comprehensive reports on the programme’s implementation and highlights the social value of the activities undertaken. In this way, the project serves communicative, educational, and promotional purposes, supporting the University’s strategic goals. For more information about the exhibition, please visit the IDUB programme website.

The project is funded by the Institute for Advanced Studies.
