Warsaw Glia Symposium at the Centre of New Technologies

Between 16 and 17 October 2025, the Warsaw Glia Symposium was held at the Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw. The meeting was an international scientific event dedicated to glial cells – their diversity, functions, and roles in the healthy and diseased nervous system. It brought together researchers studying astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and microglia, in both basic and translational contexts.
Around 120 scientists participated, representing various career stages and coming from Poland and abroad. Among the Polish institutions were Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the Medical University of Gdańsk, Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT, Jagiellonian University, and several research centres in Warsaw. International institutions included Lund University, the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences, and Aston University.
The symposium featured world-class speakers, including Marco Prinz (University of Freiburg), Soyon Hong (University College London), Nicola Allen (The Salk Institute), Bożena Kamińska (Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences), Klaus-Armin Nave (Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences), and Ragnhildur Káradóttir (University of Cambridge).
