Meeting with Nobel Prize winner Professor François Englert

Category: Events, People

The UW Institute for Advanced Studies and the UW Faculty of Physics are pleased to invite you to a unique meeting with Professor François Englert, the 2013 Nobel Laureate in Physics.

The meeting will take place on 25 April 2024 at 12:00 p.m. (CET) at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, in room 0.03. During the event we will have the pleasure of watching the film “Rebel and Nobel Prize Winner”, followed by a discussion and a Q&A session.

Professor François Englert is an eminent Belgian theoretical physicist who won the Nobel Prize together with Peter Higgs for the theoretical prediction and experimental detection of a particle named after Higgs (the Higgs boson), which contributed significantly to understanding the nature of the mass of matter. Winning the prize was a pretext for the researcher to reflect on his previously hidden rebellious past. The film “Rebel and Nobel Prize Winner” depicts this return to his former life and shows how Professor Englert’s dissident spirit has shaped his career as an exceptional researcher.

We cordially invite all those who are interested to attend the event.
